Use warm water to clean latex clothing; soaps and detergents can be skipped. Just use a soft towel dipped in warm water to wipe it clean. Never use washer or dryer. If absolutely necessary, a mild, fragrance-free body wash or solid soap can be used. After washing, gently wipe away excess water with a soft towel, then lay it out to dry on a clean, flat surface with no sharp metal contact, or simply hang it up at home. Once dry, you can sprinkle a tiny bit of cornstarch or talcum powder inside and out to absorb any remaining moisture and ensure it is completely dry. Never tumble dry, never iron, and never dry clean.
Once the latex clothing is completely dry, fold it neatly and place it into a sealable plastic bag of an appropriate size. It is best to use unprinted plastic bags, as the ink can transfer onto the latex. If the latex garment has metal components, you can cover both sides of the metal with tape to prevent them from coming into contact with the latex. After that, keep the latex in a "dark room" and store it in a cool, dry place away from light.Generally speaking, hanging latex clothing will not cause any damage to the material. However, if the garment is too heavy, the latex panels on the shoulders or straps may tear over time. If you decide to hang your latex clothing, try to use a softer hanger.Do not use metal hangers, as they will cause staining. Avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures, as these will accelerate the aging and fading of the latex. Keep away from fire, as latex is highly flammable.
To shine latex clothing, you must only use silicone-based shiners. Never, ever use oil-based products, such as oils, lubricants, or body oils. These ingredients will dissolve the latex and cause massive damage to the garment. If it comes into contact with oil, wipe it off as quickly as possible and wash the clothing again immediately.Do not polish the latex clothing when it is completely dry, as this may scratch the glossy surface of the material.
There are generally two ways to put on latex clothing, categorized by the final visual effect: a matte finish or a high-gloss, shiny look. Because latex is extremely form-fitting, you must reduce friction between your skin and the garment while dressing to prevent the material from tearing. For a matte finish, use talcum powder. For a shiny look, use silicone-based shiners or sprays. Applying a silicone shiner is very simple—using a non-woven cloth is the best way to do it.If the garment is tight or zipperless (such as a full catsuit), use a latex-friendly lubricant to help you "slide" into the clothing. Applying a generous amount of lubricant to both your skin and the inside of the garment will make it much easier to put on. Finally, if you are wearing jewelry or have long nails, be very careful to avoid poking or scratching the latex.
